Service Designer

Overview: - Bixal is a consulting company based in Fairfax, VA, working with governments and organizations to improve services and experiences. - The SPRUCE IDIQ contract vehicle is awarded by the Department of Veterans Affairs for digital product and service acquisition. - The role involves modernizing a mobile app for Veterans' easy access to benefits, ensuring compliance with accessibility standards. Key Responsibilities: - Use journey maps, service blueprints, and ecosystem diagrams to map service experiences. - Analyze research insights to identify pain points and opportunities. - Collaborate with UX designers, researchers, and technologists to co-design user-centered solutions. - Facilitate workshops and co-design sessions with internal teams and government stakeholders. - Contribute to strategy and roadmapping for service improvements based on user needs. - Communicate complex systems and design rationale clearly to clients and teammates. - Champion human-centered design practices in federal digital services. - Work independently and with remote teams, with excellent communication and facilitation skills. Requirements/Skills/Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree and a minimum of four years of relevant experience in service design. - Proven portfolio of service design deliverables and thinking. - Experience in multidisciplinary teams, agile environments, and human-centered design frameworks. - Familiarity with complex, regulated environments and stakeholder alignment. - Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance. - Experience with federal agencies, 21st Century IDEA, OMB Circular A-11 Section 280, and accessibility standards. - Exposure to content strategy, change management, or organizational design.
