Scientific Software Engineer

Overview: - Commonwealth Fusion Systems (CFS) aims to transition to fusion energy. - Raised over $2 billion in capital since 2018. - Seeking Scientific Software Engineers to develop internal simulation tools for HTS magnets. Key Responsibilities: - Develop simulation software across physics and computational domains. - Plan and deliver software interfaces for interdisciplinary teams. - Assist in building application workflows using internal simulation tools. - Implement CI/CD processes for maintenance and error reduction. - Work with teams on magnet development, including electromagnetics, engineering, and materials. Requirements/Skills/Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree in a technical field, with a preference for experience in high-consequence software analysis. - Proficiency in Python, with experience in type hinting and large projects. - Experience with C++, Rust, low-level performance, and memory management. - Solid understanding of numerical methods, optimization, linear algebra, and differential equations. - Experience in computational structural mechanics, computational electromagnetics, and machine learning. - Must-have: Ability to perform extended periods of typing or sitting, dedication to safety, willingness to travel or work on-call.
