Principal Engineer - Inventory

Overview: - Role within Xero's Inventory area, part of a global team focused on uplifting and revitalizing inventory offerings. - Involved in significant uplift of legacy stack and coordination with various teams for complex product changes. - Leadership in guiding engineering practices, advocating for new technologies, and ensuring adherence to security and data guidelines. - Responsible for designing, authoring, and testing code, as well as resolving issues and promoting continuous improvement. - Engaged in creating and promoting engineering standards and frameworks, researching industry best practices. Key Responsibilities: - Guide engineering practices across teams to achieve product goals using world-class techniques. - Design and author code, drive proof of concepts, and solve technical problems. - Promote quality engineering strategies and support teams in evolving their practices. - Implement practices and tooling for systemic prevention of issues and maintaining world-class engineering standards. - Collect data to quantify automation effects, ensure deployment pipelines are effective, and proactively prevent customer-facing problems. - Champion agile and delivery practices, coach others, and identify technical solutions to improve product group processes. Requirements/Skills/Qualifications: - Proficient in C#/.NET and modern development practices, with some PHP exposure being beneficial. - Experience in reviewing delivery and production metrics, quantifying technical debt, and advocating for automated processes. - Extensive technical leadership experience on cloud-native platforms. - Experience in coaching and mentoring engineers across multiple disciplines.
