Principal Systems Engineering Lead

**Overview:** - Principal Systems Engineer role in Shield AI's next-gen UAS program. - Focus on designing, developing, and integrating autonomous aircraft systems for national defense. - Lead technical execution of system architecture across avionics, autonomy, propulsion, sensors, and mission systems. **Key Responsibilities:** - Develop and refine system architecture for seamless integration of various subsystems. - Establish and manage system requirements, ensuring traceability throughout the development lifecycle. - Integrate AI-driven flight control and decision-making capabilities. - Utilize MBSE tools for system modeling, trade studies, and performance optimization. - Oversee flight testing, analyze data, and refine system design for performance objectives. - Guide sensor and avionics integration into UAS platforms. - Conduct risk management and trade studies for design alternatives and technical risks. - Engage with stakeholders to align system capabilities with operational requirements. - Optimize UAS for contested environments, focusing on reliability, resilience, and stealth. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams for integrated system development and rapid cycles. **Requirements/Skills/Qualifications:** - 10+ years of experience in systems engineering for aerospace, defense, or autonomous aircraft systems. - Deep expertise in system architecture, avionics integration, and autonomy-driven flight systems. - Proficiency in MBSE, DOORS, SysML, and similar tools. - Experience with Group 4 or Group 5 UAS, military aircraft, or autonomous airborne platforms. - Strong background in flight testing, system integration, and performance validation. - Knowledge of DoD acquisition processes, MIL-STDs, FAA certification, and airborne system safety standards. - Leadership in cross-functional teams and complex project management. - Ability to work in an agile development environment with shifting priorities. - Preferred: AI-driven autonomy experience, ISR, EW, and advanced sensor integration expertise. - Active Secret or Top Secret clearance or ability to obtain one. **Compensation & Benefits:** - Salary range: $198,046 - $297,068 per year. - Offer includes bonus, benefits, and equity. - Temporary employee package available after 60 days of employment. - Compensation influenced by skill set, experience, licenses, certifications, and location. - Benefits package contingent on cleared background and reference check. - Equal opportunity workplace with affirmative action commitment. - Accommodations available for disabilities or special needs.
